I made this work because I was fascinated by the dynamic transformation which happens when something is turned into a sculpture. In an actual gun and smoke, the cannon is a massive chunk of heavy iron; then the smoke is an untouchable fluid existence in the air. On the contrary, in sculpture, the former is a tiny, fragile part of the piece, whereas the smoke is a big chunk of wood with a sense of mass.
